Father Ebben leads retreat for faculty
The Bishop Byrne Middle and High School faculty made their annual retreat on Friday, February 17 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Spiritual Center. This was the first faculty to use the Center. Dominican Priest, Father Bert Ebben, led the retreat that focused on spirituality and the contribution of the Dominican charism to Catholic education in the modern world. With examples drawn from his years of working and building in Kenya, Fr. Bert taught that we have in the gift of Incarnation a means for sanctifying every aspect of our daily lives and bringing Christ to the world. This is the essence of Dominican education; Catholic education and authentic education; the enflesh of truth (veritas). The ambiance of the Retreat Center provided the perfect environment for the retreatants to reflect on their call as Dominican educators to bring to life the four characteristics of Dominican education: contemplation,
study, virtue and action. These pillars of Dominican education drive
the mission and enflesh the truth at Bishop Byrne Middle and High School.
