Bequest Provides for New Student Outreach

A gift from a confidential donor, received two years after the donor’s death, is allowing Bishop Byrne to reach out to recruit new students. Carol Carlson, Director of Institutional Advancement, responsible for fundraising and marketing for the school, said, “This is such a unique opportunity for Bishop Byrne. Funding for an advertising campaign of this type would not be available under normal circumstances, but thanks to a bequest from a caring donor, we are able to implement an outreach program to help us turn around a trend of declining enrollment and bring new students to Bishop Byrne.” She goes on to say, “What better gift could a person leave as a legacy than to provide an opportunity for parents and students to discover what an amazing place Bishop Byrne is for middle and high school students to find their way academically and spiritually. We are so appreciative of this opportunity and look forward to welcoming new students in the fall.”

The advertising campaign, launched in early June, includes tv, print, and outdoor advertising, along with a direct mailing to targeted homes in the areas served by Bishop Byrne. Initial response has been quite positive, with calls from prospective students increasing daily. Responses will be carefully monitored to track the effectiveness of the campaign.

The tv commercials can be seen on WMC-TV5 at various times throughout the summer and can be viewed on the school’s website here. Outdoor billboards are located across the southern areas of Memphis, most prominently along I-240 just west of Getwell.
